Why birth photography
A birth rushes past you. You are right in the middle of it, and that is exactly why you miss how your partner looks at you, how small those hands are, how big that very first gaze is. Birth photos give you that day back, again and again, even when the details have long faded.
I work documentary style: no directing, no flash, no requested poses. I am quietly present and capture what truly happens. You live the birth, I keep it.

Getting acquainted
We meet at your home or online. You tell me what you hope for, I show you how I work. If it feels right, we put everything down clearly in an agreement.

On call from week 37
From week 37 I am on call for you day and night, my phone always within reach. When labour starts, I come to you. At home, at the birth centre or at the hospital.

During the birth
I work quietly in the background, without flash, following your wishes and those of the care team. From the last contractions through the first hour of skin to skin.

Your album
Within three to four weeks the full story is in your personal online gallery, ready to view and download in high resolution. A first preview usually arrives within days.
Also at the hospital or with a caesarean
If you are giving birth at the hospital, for example at Isala in Zwolle, I coordinate in advance what is possible there. Hospitals have their own rules and I naturally respect them. With a planned caesarean I am happy to think along: often I can join the moment your baby is there, right on time for the first moments together.

Service area

Frequently asked questions
- What does a birth story cost?
- The current packages are on the pricing page. A 50 percent deposit applies at booking; it reserves the on-call period exclusively for you.
- From when are you on call?
- From week 37 until the birth I am available day and night. In that period I plan nothing far away and keep my phone with me at all times.
- When should we call you?
- Rather too early than too late. Call or text as soon as labour gets going, and we will decide together on the best moment for me to come. That keeps things calm for everyone.
- What if the birth goes very fast or differently?
- A birth cannot be planned, I know that better than anyone. If things go differently, we move with them. If despite everything I miss the birth itself, we arrange to capture those first special days instead.
- How do you handle privacy and intimate moments?
- You set the boundaries. Beforehand we discuss what will and will not be photographed, and during the birth I follow your directions and those of the care team. The photos are yours; I never share anything without permission.
- How soon do we see the photos?
- A first preview usually follows within days. The full story is in your personal online gallery within three to four weeks and stays available for at least six months.
